How we comply with the 2026 DVSA rules

The rules changed in May 2026. Here is exactly what that means and how Test Switch works within them.

What we do

What changed in May and June 2026?

From 12 May 2026, SI 2026/326 (The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (Amendment) Regulations 2026) made it illegal for anyone other than the learner to book or change a driving test. GOV.UK confirmed that third-party bookings, changes, swaps, and cancellations are against the law.

From 9 June 2026, if you want to move your test to a different centre, you can only move it to one of the 3 nearest eligible centres to your current booked location. We apply this restriction to alert preferences so you only receive alerts for slots you are actually allowed to take.

Common questions

Do you book driving tests on behalf of learners? +
No. We provide appointment availability notifications only. All driving tests must be booked and managed directly by the learner through the official DVSA booking service. Test Switch is an independent notification service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the DVSA or GOV.UK.
How quickly will I receive a notification? +
Our monitoring system checks throughout the day. When a possible match is found, we send a Telegram alert as quickly as we can. Many users receive their first alert within hours of activating - it depends on cancellations at your centres.
Do you book or change my test for me? +
No. We only send notifications. When you get an alert, log in to the official DVSA website yourself to book or move your test. Under 2026 rules, only you can change your booking.
How does the free 3-day trial work? +
Choose your test centres (up to 6). You receive Telegram alerts for all available dates at those centres for 3 days - no date range to set. No card required - activate via Telegram. Upgrade to Premium to set a date range and get 3 months of monitoring.
Who changes my test date - you or me? +
You do. Under 2026 DVSA rules only the learner can book or change a driving test. We send Telegram notifications only; you must complete any change on the official DVSA booking system.
Which test centres do you cover? +
We monitor test centres across England, Scotland, and Wales, grouped by official DVSA regions (East of England, London, West Midlands, Scotland, Wales, and others). Pick your region, then choose up to six centres within it.
Do I need to install anything? +
You need Telegram (free). After subscribing on this website, open our Telegram channel and tap Start or send /start to activate alerts.
How long does my subscription last? +
Paid plans include three months of monitoring from activation. The free trial lasts 3 days with alerts for your chosen centres and all available dates. Sign in to your dashboard to view status, refund eligibility, and support options.
What is your refund policy? +
If you paid within the last 24 hours and we have not sent any Telegram slot alert, you may be eligible for a refund - see your dashboard or our Refund Policy. Once an alert has been sent, the service is considered delivered.
What if I want to monitor multiple cities? +
Each subscription covers one city. If you'd like to cover multiple areas, you can place a separate order for each. Contact us if you need a bundle deal.
